Lizaveta Shtormit

Bio

Elizaveta Novikova, working under the pseudonym Lizaveta Shtormit, was born in Moscow in 1988. She went to Secondary Art School #1188, Moscow which she graduated from in 2005 and went straight to the the S.A. Alimov’s Animation Department at the Russian State University of Cinematography. In her first year she started to create and produce exhibition projects.
In 2006 she first produced her own exhibition “Pod’ezd” (Entrance Hall). The works were exhibited in the entrance hall of the building at Pokrovka 27. Later Liza created a memorable serious of works “Krasniye Doma” (Red Buildings): one of them showcased the Krasny Oktyabr Factory, the other one – Evangelic Female Hospital and a Saint-Petersburg of a peculiar architecture value.

The artist describes her style as “dorky realism”. Liza Shtormit’s works are mostly in Russian private collections. Liza is also a festival, art-project and exhibition curator and organizer. She has experience of an artistic director which she gained from film projects.
The pseudonym “Shtormit” was taken from modern life which is full of fast pace and search for the new.
