5 most famous Russian art groups
The art group as a separate phenomenon in post-Soviet and Soviet art began to form back in the distant 70s. The first thing that comes to mind is “Collective Actions”, which lasted more than thirteen years under the leadership of the ideological inspirer Andrei Monastyrsky. It was a necessary measure to promote their art and support mutual coexistence. Sometimes the format of an art group becomes a vector of the emergence of an artistic environment or institution. I immediately recall the practice of the ZIP art community, which gave a powerful feedback to the birth of all relevant art processes in Krasnodar. We decided to make a small selection of relevant Russian art groups.
